MANILA, Philippines - The National Cockers Alliance (NCA) celebrates the new year with a bang as it holds the World Championship Derby (WCD) on Jan. 12, 14, 16 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The long-running NCA-WCD, sponsored by Sagupaan Complexor, has been held bi-annually for 20 years now. It features the best in Philippine and American cockfighting.
Americans Tom Cooper and Jeff Hudstep, Wayne Spurlock, Romy Arciaga, Joe and Kevin Wolcott, Allen Gambrel, Tom Wilson and Dan Gray head the roster of participants in upcoming derby while the local challenge will be led by Rep. Iggy Arroyo, Gov. Ito Ynares, Gerry Ramos, Ferdie Buensalida, Ellan Nagaflo, JV Magsaysay, Elmer Nepomuceno, Patrick Antonio, Mario Villamor, James Uy, Manny and Arman Santos, Jimmy Ang and Jun Santiago.
Others in the fold are Ernie Austria, Rey Allas, Hessie Malliflin, Tommy Chua and Osang dela Cruz, T. Sevilla, Eric dela Rosa, Danny Teves, Bebot Villar, Rudy Albano, Ruel Ricafort, Efren Canlas, the Jingco brothers, the Madlangbayan brothers, and Jet Fernando.
Part of the proceeds of the event will go to the scholarship fund for underprivileged college students. The NCA currently has four scholars at UP Los Baños studying Veterinary Science and Agriculture, Major in Poultry Science.
