Most probably there is.. but haven't talked to Danny. His birds would probably be shown on 2009 WSC.. I'll keep my fingers crossed.. these are smart birds with lot of firepower.. they're now in Cebu.. Rod_Colegado

Archie Kehr started myself and brother inlaw into this great sport. Greg (my brother inlaw) lived withing 20 miles of Archie and was hatching eggs in a commercial incubator we had purchase to start raising pheasants for the state hunting release programs. Well when I would come home he had chicken eggs hatching instead of the pheasant eggs and that is how I got started in Gamefowl.
Archie had a partner from St. Louis and the name escapes me now but they had gone to Mr. Kelso and purchased some fowl from him direct. Like all true kelso's they will come every white/yellow leg color and straight or peacomb. The color that will range from dark red wine to light red with medium medium/high stations. Occassionaly you will see some white feathers but not that of a spangle. Archie about 3 years before his death did have a hen that started producing some white sports. They were the same in every way as ability as the kelso except white with the tint yellow on the back.
The kelso have won many competitions and he has sold all around the country and PI. I like the cutting ability and their ability reach out and extend leg to cut. In the gaff they dont really excell against those birds that want to fight in close. Since they reach and hit with legs fully stretched it will causes some trouble at time when against the boards. They break well but not what I would call a high breaking fowl and very seldom duck or give their head. Have good balance and because they do have a certian style on their stroke and stay at distance that is confusing for alot of fowl. To be honest one thing that is difficult to fight straight in the gaff is when facing a rugged strong hatch type that can overpower physically that grabs a bill hold. They get distracted sort of trying to find the distance they are most confortable. However, when crossed on whitehackle or hatch they dont seem to have any problems and you get the balance of the reach yet more rugged and toughness you would look for. Kelso are fast and cutt and they have always shown true for me.
Archie is sort of well know for his kelso's but his hatch which is his blend of lieper clayborn and whatever else he had put in them is by far the best birds he raised in my opinion. They are beatiful and just down right true competitors. They cross well but straight they are just as good as any battle cross.

Sir Sugarcreek,
Would you mind telling us where in Missouri you live? The reason I asked is, I live in St. Louis.

I live in Pineville, Mo which is south of Joplin on the OK AR statelines. About 45 minutes from the old poultry palace. We use to show when legal at Irish Acres. My brother inlaw is in Sullivan.

kelso is already a deep cutter and medium flyer, i would say the best cross for kelso are hatches ... they will add up to their deep game and ground for pound fighting abilities...that will make them complete fighters...
